Nova Scotia Code of Ethics for Professional Dietitians
The Nova Scotia Code of Ethics for Professional Dietitians (2007) is a statement of the ethical standards by which dietitians are to conduct their practice. As such, the document fulfills the responsibilities of a self-regulating profession to inform its members, other health care professions, and the general public about the ethical commitments of dietitians. By upholding the Code of Ethics, dietitians protect clients, the public and the profession.
The Code outlines the various roles of dietitians and outlines the ethical standards relevant to each. The Code serves as a reference in decision making and self-evaluation, and it provides a basis for feedback and peer review. The Code also provides dietitians with an indication of the kind of behaviour that is likely to lead to disciplinary action. It is a dietitian's responsibility to be familiar with the Code of Ethics and keep to the statements contained within. |
